The Story

Located in Boston’s famous North End, Mangia Mangia has been serving locals and visitors for over 30 years.

Mangia Mangia opened December 1986 by life long North end resident, Johnny Pagliuca, who was referred by friends as “Johnny Mangia”.

After 30 years of business, Johnny decided to close the doors, but first, he asked his childhood friend and fellow lifetime North End resident Gary Forziati if he’d like to take over the restaurant. Gary owned “Uptown Cafe” in Beacon Hill, and after 15 years of doing business he decided to take on a new venture.

After a few renovations and menu changes, Mangia Mangia re-opened in June 2018 and continues to be a neighborhood favorite.

What The Regulars Say

“The sandwiches were amazing. The owner is personable and bantered with us and the locals who walked in.

It actually felt like we were in a sitcom with all the different players coming by to grab something to eat and hang out. Great place”

— Steve R.

“Omg I'm obsessed with this place. Food is good and cheap — we had breakfast. Lots of variety: breakfast, hot and cold subs, pasta, CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES!!

The owner is so personable and friendly. It feels like you're hanging out with an old friend. He knows everyone who comes in. If I lived here I'd come in all the time but sadly I'm a tourist!”
